Story Database Update finished

...more or less. The Story Database Update should be finished. I think I've ironed all the bugs out of it. As of now you can rate all stories, view more detailed information about stories, and review stories. As for rating, you can currently rate from 0-10, though I will probably make the range smaller. Once a story has at least 5 ratings, and an average rating of over 8, then it will be moved into the Community Favorites section. Becasue this now depends on member rating to work, I now beg you all to go through and rate/review stories (And to tell me if you encounter any bugs or errors). I really want to see what my stories get for ratings... I am still working on allowing peopel to search stories by rating, reviews, category, etc., but that will take a while longer. If you think of anything you want me to add or remove from this system, please tell me in the forum. Oh, you have to login in order to rate/review. See the Login link up in the left corner?

Rating Stories Now Possible

It is now possible to rate stories in the Full Stories List. Currently you can login to the maine site and rate them from 1-5, and once a story has gotten 5 rattings with a 4.0 average, it will automaticaly be moved to the Really Good section, though these values may be changed later. You can't rate stories in the Really Good section yet, I'm still working on that. Anyway, just wanted to let people know. If you think 1-5 isn't a large enough scale, tell me. I welcome responses. I've been waiting 2 days for responses on this subject, but apparantly nobody likes me... Seriously though, if you think the scale is too small, suggest something better. I'd also appreciate it if people could help me come up with a better name than Really Good Stories.

Alright, the story Database has now been split into two sections. One for almost all Rei/Shinji fanfiction, and another for Really Good Rei/Shinji fanfiction. There will be alot more updates to come in the near future, making the site much more interactive with the ability to review and rate stories, and much more.

Story Database Changes

I've decided that I'm goign to do a bit of work on the story database. Basicaly, there are going to be two sections in the story database: Rei/Shinji Fanfiction Really Good Rei/Shinji fanfiction The latter category will have more information, voting, reviews, recomendations, author info, etc, while the first category will just be a list of the majority of Rei/Shinji fanfiction... except for really really badly written ones, or for script format fanfiction.... because script format fanfiction annoys me. This is, of course, to provide a large list of Shinji/Rei fanfiction to those who still like to read fanfiction, even if it's not really really good, and to provide a smaller list of Really Good fanfiction to those who are a bit more picky.

The forum is back up... but no one at websupport really knows why. This was probably just a one time server hic-up. Hopefully the uprgraded compatability in PHPBB3 will stop any future hic-ups.

Forum Lynched itself

As most of you have undoubtedly noticed by now, the forum seems to have lynched itself for the time being. There is really no reason for this to be happening, and I am currently in contact with websupport trying to resolve this issue. I'd also like to make mention of the fact that once this issue has been resolved, I'm going to be upgrading the forum to PHPBB Version 3 at some point. Sorry about this inconvinience!

It looks like our email is no longer recieved as spam with Gmail. Unfortunately Yahoo isn't so accommodating. Also, the donation tank has filled up enough for Rei to start to float!

GMail also seems to have the same problem of marking all message from Apartment402.net as spam. I'm going to try and see if they are going to be more reasonable than yahoo, but in the meantime, if any Apartment402 messages wind up in your GMail spam box, please mark them as not spam and send GMail an email telling them that Apartment402.net email is not spam. Thank you.

Migration is finished!

Well. That took one hell of a lot longer than I expected. Blame it on the 8000+ bots. Anyways, everything should be up and running. I've deleted any users that were not part of the NOT BOTS group, in order to cleanset he forum of bots. If for some reason I made a mistake and your account was accidentaly deleted, please shoot me an email, and I will transfer in your data. New site is now officialy open!

The forum migration has begun. It should be fininshed in a few hours. UPDATE (5:14pm EST) I am still transfering data. There are an apalling number of bots. Almost OVER 9000. I really wish that was a joke.

One of my favorite things about the new site is that we have our own domain name and webspace. Unfortunatly, these things don't come free. The webspace is $99/year, and the domain name is $15/year, toatling at $114/year. With that in mind, I have created a donation tank in the left sidebar, where you can now donate money to help with Apartment 402's rent!

The forum migration will happen this Friday (June 13th) from 12:00pm EST (7:00am GMT) till 2:00pm EST (9:00 GMT). I just hope doing it on Friday the 13th wont be bad luck...

Yahoo Marks Apartment 402 Email as Spam

Yahoo happens to have our domain IP on it's blacklist, and as a result all email from this server winds up in the Yahoo Bulk folder. If you have a Yahoo account and are expecing an Email from Apartment402, please check the bulk folder for you message. (keep in mind that some SPAM gives itself a Send date several years in the future, so the Apartment402 email might be hidden somewhere down the list of spam). If you do recive an email from Apartment402 that winds up in your Bulk folder, please do the following: A) click on the Not Spam button, and B) Contact yahoo and tell them that the email you are recieving is not spam. Yahoo says that if they get enough email from users that Apartment402 is not spam and is being filtered incorrectly, they will whitelist our domain and this problem will be fixed at last. Meanwhile I'm still trying to see if I can convince Yahoo to whitelist us without going through all that trouble.

I really wish that I had an acceptable excuse for why this took so long... but I don't. All the coding for the new site is complete, and all that remains is the actual transference of the forum data. So, if you all still want to do this merger (with a shiny new domain name, I might add) just give me the go ahead and I will make it happen. For real this time.
